Record Balance

A quick one this, not much to talk about but having sold everything I have the largest wallet balance I've ever had, at over 560Bn, which is neat.

I'm hoping not to keep it for long though. The current NES sale for Omega ends on 20th September, with a Major Update coming out on the 22nd. Often with these major updates there's a free week given out to encourage people back to give it a try, which usually means a drop in the price of pretty much everything. If that happens I'll be able to buy PLEX up for as cheaply as possible to then wait for the next FOMO sale. Fingers crossed.

Beginning Null Seeding

I've been slowly dipping my toe into various things in null recently. By which I mean familiarising myself with the geography near to UALX-3 and doing a little bit of ratting and more recently, mining.

I don't, if I'm completely honest, understand the nuances with mining these days. With wastage being a concern and a source of drama within null groups and new null sec ores etc. I decided to keep it simple by buying a couple of battle procurers and taking them out in a nearby Industry park.

The idea behind the location being that there are tatara's on hand for reprocessing, asteroid anomolies of various descriptions to mine, an ice field, and a bunch of raitarus to build things from the minerals.

I was pleasantly surprised to find the rats that jump into those anoms seem quite small and easily handled by my barges, so I'll probably push the limits here as I build up.

Another thing I was looking at was the margins between staging and Jita. I found them to be healthy, and the alliance hauling services to be nice and cheap, so I've bought about 850mil of a few items and set up a contract for them to be hauled to staging. I will likely look at industry in null at some point but that might involve importing some materials, whereas importing the items to sell for a profit looks to be a simple way to open a new profit avenue.

Separately, I've had a sell order to Skill Extractors up for a very, very long time that I refresh periodically. It was for 570mil sell, by far the highest in Jita, from an attempt to flip them a very long time ago. This is purely dead ISK, so I've reduced it to a more sensible 470mil in an attempt to unlock that ISK and then put more into PLEX when the Omega sale ends. I have sold my PLEX stockpile for a minimum of 4.95Mil each, so I'll wait for the price to drop back to the 4.65-4.6 region and then buy them all up again. At that price from my initial 99k PLEX I should end up with 101k, so a small but notable profit. With the extra 100Bn from the extractors I should be looking at around 120k PLEX, which is a lot to take into the next FOMO sale.

30% off Omega in the NES

So currently in the NES you can get 30% off Omega time on 1 month Omega, and 20% off 6 months Omega:

The 6 month one is the most significant, which at 280 PLEX/month and PLEX currently sitting at 5.03mil means you can get omega for 1.4Bn ISK/Month.

Now, this is good, but nowhere close to the 1.1Bn ISK/month I paid earlier on in the year, so I won't jump on this right now.

I do have 99k PLEX on hand though, and the price has jumped up slightly. Given that this is a short term sale I will sell my PLEX and then put up a buy order for the same at the old buy order price (~4.65mil) looking to scrape a few % profit. I'm hoping this should net me about 20Bn, but we'll see.

Secret donations

So this week FC put out a security update:

https://www.eveonline.com/news/view/eve-online-security-update-8-september-2026

I had already heard rumblings of this on the Oz discord but it was good to et some clarity from FC as to what was happening.

Essentially, someone modified their client and used 4 characters to spam over 1 million characters with 0 ISK donations. Something about the response to that deposit call returned the wallet balance of the wallet being donated to. This didn't return other wallet balances other than corp master wallet and personal wallets. So no PLEX balances or anything.

I don't know if donating to a character would also get their corp wallet balance, I would hope not.

I've seen some speculation that the list of users was scraped from zKillboard, but I'm not convinced as my market characters have been affected. I've not done a thorough inventory but all the characters I checked were affected. My industry corp wallet however does not show a donation so might be unaffected.

There is a limit to what someone can do with this information, unless they can map characters to accounts somehow and therefor have targets to hack, or alternatively use the knowledge of who has large wallets to target them for social engineering or phishing. So as the article says you should enable 2FA on your accounts.

Fortunately, none of my characters have more than a few billion in their wallets, so I don't look much like a target which is nice. If they could see PLEX balances that would be a different matter.

Here's hoping this is as far as it goes, but be very careful if you receive suspicious EVEMails or emails from "FC" over the next couple of months!

A Capital sized investment

For a while I've thought and talked about wanting to build bigger ships, particularly Freighters and Jump Freighters. I t was a factor in my move to send a couple of characters to low sec for industry.

After running the numbers through EVEGuru to check for profitability and coming out in the 20-25% margin range across the board (with perfect skills) I decided to bite the bullet and buy the blueprints needed to build a Charon. Which cost a little bit of ISK...

Terrible picture, but the red line at the top is my net worth, the dark blue is ISK in wallets and the green is asset value. My net worth dropped by 1.1Bn, ISK on hand down 11.7Bn, and asset value up 13Bn!!! (I did sell some stuff there to explain the discrepancy, the light blue line is sell orders).

So why did my net worth drop? Surely it goes from the ISK in my wallet to the NPC value of the blueprints which is what I paid? Well, yes, but also...

That's 640mil to research a Charon blueprint to 8ME. Then there are a lot of component blueprints to also research as well!

So it'll be a while before I actually produce my first freighter, and even longer before this venture turns a profit but I'm pleased to be along the way to achieving a goal for myself, which is what EVE is all about really.

August Update - Industry

A disappointing/transitionary month this one, a transition that's only just starting really. The graph:

My current net worth is 64.1Bn ISK, a decrease of 1.1Bn ISK.

Another month, more losses. This is easier to explain. I've been aggressively chasing prices down as Logic Circuit prices have fallen in order to liquidate stock and transition to new items and ventures. I've also been having a slightly more holistic look at my setup, and while I do that I've not used most of my characters. Most of the time just 3 have been building anything.

I know I want to keep building mobile depots, I can churn those out for eternity with 1 character and a 10% profit margin basically to the end of time, though prices here have fallen recently as well. Input materials across the board seem down which makes chasing profit much harder.

I also know I want 1 character to build ad hoc things that EVEGuru says are profitable. These tend to be mostly odd t1 rigs, where I can produce 10 or 20 from a single production line for a day and make a decent profit, but not commit fully to.

When prices level out I want 1 character to continue with medium rigs as well, as these have a consistently good demand and have been a nice earner for me.

Beyond that I'm less certain about what I want to do. I would like to transition my low sec setup to looking at building freighters, and to that end I have started picking up capital parts blueprints and researching them in lowsec. This activity will have a lot of lead time (and start up cost) but I think should therefore lead to some good margins.

With my other characters I am looking at other items with better, more consistent margins. I have never lost money making large EMP Smartbomb II for instance, so I'm making those a regular part of my rotation.

I'm also considering industrial cores. I have made them here and there in the past, and the margin is consistent along with demand, so I'd need to be careful about how many i produce, but they have a long lead time and take a lot of bulky tritanium to build. Which isn't the end of the world, but I am very strongly considering buying a freighter to accommodate that.

A lot more work to do here, seems the puzzle is going to take some real concentration to figure out, which I just haven't given it this last year.

August Update - Trading

I was away for some of this month, and working silly hours for other parts, so an underwhelming month. The raw numbers:

And the full breakdown:

My current net worth is 1.263Tn ISK, and increase of 16Bn ISK, or 516 mil ISK/day.

Hardly impressive, but as I say, I've hardly played for a lot of the month. To be honest with my trading I've just been going through the motions, doing my same old same old, watching the numbers tick slowly up, while focussing on other things.

One thing I have been doing is building up PLEX stockpiles using profits. Up to 99k now, 1000 more and I'll be at the 100k I was hoping for to take into the next FOMO sale.

I have been trying a little bit to get started in null on my main, which is actually a slightly more involved process than I remember. A lot about null life is getting to know the geography, what systems are where, where the Ansiblexes are, where the industry parks are, etc. etc. etc.

I fell into the simplest thing of death cloning, buying a ratting Gila and going not far from staging and ratting enough to pay the Gila off by doing Forsaken Hubs, but I haven't achieved much more than that. More on what I'm doing to get settled in another post but I'm trying to keep my game time focussed on that, or else I'll never really get the most out of the experience and I might as well stay in high sec.

I've also noticed, and I don't know if others are the same, but when there is a lot of stress going on in my real life, for whatever reason, I struggle to motivate myself to do things I find fun, such as play EVE. So you will always see a bit of a drop off in terms of activity and progress when I have other things on my mind. This is probably a natural response to stress, but I've noticed it more consciously recently where I finally finished work, and had a bit of time to log in, and wanted to, but just...couldn't bring myself to, and went to bed instead.

Fingers crossed the worst of the work stress is behind me so I can get the lay of the land. I half remember the lay of the land in Catch from over a decade ago, but Tenerifis is a completely different animal that I'm still getting used to.

Attempting to get organised

So, I'm trying to work out a slightly better process for my industry characters in order to utilise them better and start extracting some actual profits from them again. To that end I've added a new tab to my spreadsheet:

At the moment, I'm only really doing much on the first 3 characters, which is pretty criminal. But that will change as I get myself organised.

I've decided that going forwards I'm not going to use more than 1 character slot for a single rig/module production, so as not to flood the market. Something that's all too easy to do.

I've also settled on trying Jump Freighter production in lowsec, but this will take some training and setup in terms of blueprint acquisition and research, so more of a long term goal that I can get 2 of my characters initially training towards. In the mean time I will have to find more reliable work for characters 4, 6, 7 and 9.

Currently my routine involves picking up the bits needed for my mobile depot production, setting off runs of medium CCC ring with character 3, and with character 1 I check EVEGuru for more ad hoc items to produce and make them. This is a fine base but I need something reliable for the rest to do.

I also need to finish using up all of my Logic Circuits. I typically have 1-2 thousand on hand bought through buy orders as I use quite a few, but the price is dropping like a stone at the moment:

As there is nothing fundamental that has changed in the supply or demand of logic circuits, I suspect this has been someone with deep pockets and a desire to pump and dump a bottleneck industry input. If that is the case they succeeded, but I don't see the price recovering now. As such I will be holding off on rigs using them until the price stabilises, probably at a lower level. They historically sat at around 500,000ISK a piece, not the 2 million they are now.

July Update - Industry

An abysmal month for Industry this one. I barely did anything. The graph:

As you can probably discern from the huge gap in the graph, I basically didn't even log into these characters for a month.

My current net worth is 65.2Bn ISK. That's a Decrease of 1.9Bn ISK!

So, what gives?

Like I say, I barely logged into my industry characters at all. Another period where salvage prices tanked and my net worth dropped felt like I was producing items and not just treading water but actually losing ground despite keeping slots busy. Therefore I just lost motivation. Towards the end of the month I did pick this up again, and did turn the slide around, though not dramatically.

I think really I rely too heavily on a small basket of good, and am therefore very susceptible to price movements within that basket. When prices rise I make hay, but when they fall the whole venture feels pointless. As the main component of most of my industry is salvage, and probably 50% of the value of all I make is Logic Circuits, I am very reliant on the prices of that one item, over which I have no control and little visibility (I know they come from exploration sites in the Dronelands, but I don't know how much explo happens there, probably more now that there is effectively peace in Null sec again).

I am therefore going to try and mix up my style and diversify. Current plan is to have no more than 1-2 characters producing any given item at a time. So 1 character on Medium CCC 2s, one on mobile depots, one on large em shield reinforcers 2s, etc.

This way I should be less beholden to price fluctuations, or at least be producing a smaller proportion of a days volume, allowing me to shift stock faster. We shall see.

July Update -Trading

A delayed update as work has been insane with a lot of out of hours work followed by being away for a week on holiday, but July was a fairly standard trading month, with not a lot to talk about. the numbers:

And the full breakdown:

My current net worth is 1.247Tn ISK, an increase of 27Bn ISK, or 870mil ISK/day.

As I say, not a lot to talk about here. I just went through the motions doing my normal regional trading strategy of buying in Jita and paying a public contractor 1% of collateral to fly the goods to Amarr/Dodixie/Rens/Hek and selling them there. It's easy, relatively brainless, and works out to about 1Bn per day if I do a trade run at least once or twice a week.

The only other notable thing is I have been buying up PLEX with my ISK I got from cashing out the last FOMO sale. I'm up to 96,000 PLEX at this point, and will probably pause accumulation when I hit 100k. Then use it on the next sale and on and on it goes.

I had been more focused this month on trying to work out a home for my main, settling on Brave Newbies. It was quite an involved process getting in but aside from doing a tiny bit of ratting I haven't actually done much here. Hopefully things should calm down a bit IRL now and I can get some proper play time in.

A Brave new adventure

I've talked for a little while about wanting to get back into the null sec game, back to flying ships in space. Since the collapse of Pandemic Horde I've not had the opportunity, and even before that I didn't really take the opportunity that much. I've also found that often I'll log in, do my trade stuff, do some industry, then sit there not knowing what to do and log off.

Mixing things up should hopefully give me more motivation to try different things, and reasons to stay logged in once I've done my usual routine. There are a few different options when it comes to null blocs, but in the end there was one choice that made the most sense for me:

10 and a half years after I left, I am back in Brave Newbies! No longer such a newbie, even to null. But Brave has a great mix of being welcoming, expecting very little of its pilots other than having fun, and offers a lot of different opportunities.

They're not as big as say Goonswarm, but being part of the Imperium gives access to a lot of space, and Allies should anyone mount a big invasion. Being an alliance of around 3000 rather than 12000 means people are quite likely to come to their space looking for a fight which is good too.

The experience of joining was quite different from last time though. The first time I joined I simply applied in game and when the hard working recruitment team got to my app I was accepted. This time though, I had to fill in a form explaining why I wanted to join, my experience in the game etc. I had to add all of my characters (all 21 of them) to an external auth service, then wait around 4 days for someone to review my application. I then had to answer some questions about my relation to some characters I had in high personal standings (my sister and IRL friends from our high sec mining corp days of 15 years ago!) and then a few days later I was accepted. After that I had to put in requests for various services, set up mumble, slack etc etc.

It honestly reminded me of this old meme:

I gather this is how a lot of the big blocs are, guess I was lucky in my previous adventures!

But most importantly, I'm in. Even though I have a few capitals and some subcaps knocking around in low sec somewhere I decided to do a "fresh start" for this adventure. I left all my assets behind, barring the 2.1Bn in my wallet and my alt, and deathcloned to UALX-3 in tenerifis. Just next door to my original home in Catch. Maybe I should go visit GE- for old times sake...

While I waited for all my IT setup to be completed so I could join fleet comms I bought myself a ratting Gila, and jumped out into space to go do some anoms:

Space is scary.

Honestly, I'm quite excited to jump into this and see if a change is as good as a rest. And to try out some null industry again...but I'll fly in space for a bit first, promise.

June Update - Industry

A slightly less positive outlook for this side of the business:

My current net worth is 67.1Bn ISK, and increase of 3.9Bn ISK or 130mil/day.

A slight improvement on last month, but at a cost of 1.015Bn ISK per month in Omega each for 3 accounts, I'm still barely covering the Omega costs for the industry. A large part of this has come down to demotivation. As you can see the month started strong, really strong, then fell back as salvage prices dropped and then my updates stopped.

Producing a small basket of items gives me good control of my inputs but it does mean that if the market shifts - and it frequently does - I'm completely at its mercy. I need to have a wholesale rethink about how I handle this part of the business and how I approach things going forwards in a better way. I have been skilling up towards building bigger tech 2 ships, and I have been selling inventory to free up money to pivot as I need to. At time of writing I have over 25Bn in the corp wallets, which is a good starting point for any new direction I take my industry.

I have also partially reclaimed the money spent shipping in fuel block components to Auner by flying my finished T2 haulers myself to Rens and Hek. They sell for a big mark up there and it saves me hauling costs. This is time consuming though and not at all scalable, so I don't want to pivot too hard towards this as manually flying back and forth, even if it's only 3 jumps each way, is the sort of thing that drove me to quit before COVID!

I'm going to spend some time this month exploring a few things though and I'll hopefully have a plan and a direction to bring fully online after our family holiday in August.

June Update - Trading

So, a bit of an unusual on this one. Here are the numbers:

And the full breakdown:

My current net worth is 1.22Tn ISK. That's a change of -25Bn ISK, or a loss of 833mil/day.

That's a dramatic decrease, but I'm honestly thrilled!

So, what happened and why am I happy? Well, as outlined in my previous posts this month, I cashed out all of my Skill Extractors and HyperCores, as they reached my profit window and I could smell something coming in the NES. In the event I wasn't quite right in my guess, but I cashed out at the right time! I was able to end up with about 430Bn ISK to plough into PLEX, and then the day after FC dropped a 25% off Omega sale in the NES. I pulled the trigger for all 7 of my accounts, both trading and industrial, meaning most of my accounts are Omega'ed until the end of 2027.

Given I paid 4.5mil per PLEX and a years Omega cost 2700 per account I paid 12.15Bn ISK per account, for a total of 85.05BN ISK.

If you add that back in they I would have a net worth of 1.305Tn, or a monthly operating profit of 49Bn ISK.

A chunk of that is due to the increase in Skill Extractors and HyperCores before I sold them, and also I sold all my PLEX during the sale for a high of 5.1mil per PLEX (or about 12% profit before fees), which is why I'm sat on 445Bn ISK at the end of month. Once the sales all end I expected PLEX to drop in price again and I would pick more up.

This ended up being exactly what happened and at time of writing I'm sat on 92,000 PLEX bought for (at max) 4.6mil each.

My trade revenues "feel" good though, and a large portion of my profits also came from that. I'm making trade runs regularly and am pretty happy with that part of the business, even though it isn't really growing right now it's just feeding money into my gambling investment pool.

Cashing out the cash out

Well, no sooner had I poured everything I could into PLEX than FC woke up and decided to put a 25% discount on Omega time!

This means I can get a years Omega for each of my accounts for 2700 PLEX, which when bought at 4,500,000 ISK each (ish) means a years Omega for 12,150,000,000 ISK, or 1.012Bn ISK/month

That is an unbelievable bargain. My 4 main trade accounts are omega'd until next april, but my 3 industry accounts run out this year.

I'm instantly going to add game time to my industry accounts, but I'll give a little more thought to my traders. This sale might come up again at the end of the year and I could potentially make more ISK with the money in the mean time.

The rest of the PLEX though I will sell instantly. It currently sits at a sell price of 5.1mil which is about 350,000ISK profit per PLEX after taxes. When this sale is over and the price drops down again I can simply buy the PLEX again.

Indeed, as write this I have already sold 54Bn ISK worth for a profit. I have no idea how much money I'll end up with at the end of this month, but I'm really happy I got out of Skill Extractors while I had the chance! Shame I still have a bunch of HyperCores to sell, but I'll get over it.

Cashing Out

So, in the last FOMO sale I invested heavily into Skill Extractors and HyperCores, hoping to see a jump and then cash out before the next NES sale. I had in mind mid-late July to start cashing out but FC recently launched a big real money omega/PLEX sale, and handed players 10 PLEX in a pack for Federation Day.

Traditionally NES sales follow real life cash sales, and this one runs out on the 28th June. Also the SE and HyperCores have approached (in hypercores case hit) my "cash out point" of 480mil/280k respectively.

As such my spidey sense is tingling that an NES sale is incoming and I'm unlikely to get too much more profit out of simply holding my items. So I've spent this weekend/week selling these items and putting all the money into PLEX, which has been incredibly stable price wise recently:

I've managed to sell all my SEs for 459mil average, a ~26% profit before taxes/fees.

I'm currently selling HyperCores for ~282,000, though most have been sold for ~272,000. This represents about a 70%(!) marging before taxes. I still have about 300,000 of these I'm selling as well.

I've been buying PLEX at an average of 4.5mil each, and have accumulated...some.

Best case scenario, I'm right and another NES sale hit in July, giving me another opportunity to make 20-30% profit on all this in a few months. Worst case, nothing happens and I use this PLEX to get another years Omega if they run a omega discount around the new year (they usually do). But ultimately this is gambling so I could lose a lot if the price of PLEX tanks. This is not financial advice!

This feels like a strange way to make a lot of in game money through trading real world items rather than purely in game means, but that's unfortunately that's what's incentivised by these FOMO sales.

May Update - Industry

A bit late posting this, but a slightly better month overall:

My current net worth is 63.2Bn ISK, that's an increase of 3.7Bn ISK, or 119mil/day.

Not amazing, but better than last month.

To be honest, there's not a lot to talk about here. The price of Logic circuits has risen again, and a bit of a margin opened up with several rigs towards the end of the month (medium CCC, Large EM shield, medium explo armor) which I was able to take advantage of.

I also got more aggressive with adjusting my sell orders to clear out some older stock, which I was able to do. You can see the pale blue line of sell orders plummet over the course of the month. This is great as sell orders sitting around don't do much for me, but cash I can leverage.

I was a bit blunted by the drama surrounding the EVEGuru industrial park, though ultimately nothing came of it and I was able to asset safety mu stuff back to the structures they were in, for a total of about 30million ISK. Annoying that I couldn't access any of it for 5 days but could be worse. I have since picked up that batch where I left off, but once they're complete I'm really not sure if I'm going to continue operating there or not. In the mean time I am training some of my characters towards being able to build freighters/jump freighters, although it is a long train.

I am feeling the call of null sec, and strongly think I'll be putting my main character in a null bloc sooner than later, to get a bit more "in space" time. I've also briefly chatted with CEO Pyrex of SquadB gaming about null industry setups as he used to build supers and titans. It kind of confirmed what I already suspected, but I would like to build my own titan at some point, so I might explore industry in null if/when I get there again.

May Update - Trading

Another decent month this one, here's the summary:

And the full breakdown:

My current net worth is 1.257Tn ISK. That's an increase of 30Bn ISK, or 967mil ISK/day.

That's decent, I'm happy with that. Some of the increase is down to an increase in the value of Skill Extractors, though that is offset by a decrease in the price of hypercores. Both of these seem to have levelled off a bit now, and I'll probably start liquidating them both next month to avoid being caught out by another sale. My general plan with these now is to build up PLEX during off times/cash sales, then spend it during NES sales on items such as Skill Extractors and Hypercores. Then ride the price rise, sell the items and invest the money back in PLEX. Rinse and repeat. If I can make 20% profit per go at this it will really multiply my ISK, as there is no real ceiling on the amount I can pour into this the market cap is so massive.

My day to day regional trading has been fine, no real news there. I usually do a trade run once per week or when a character has about 10Bn in cash, so it doesn't take me much time to keep on top of it.

One point the dipped my worth this month is the writing off of my 5Bn ISK loan to ARDCO. Ardel Corvallon made a short video outlining that he was no longer enjoying the game and was leaving. It is always a shame when a content creator leaves the space, however this ultimately is a game and I wish him well in whatever he chooses to do going forwards. I had never seriously expected the money back anyway, I was just hoping it would help drive some in game content which it seems to have done.

Auner structures saved

A quick on this morning. I logged in to check the result of the armour timer for the Auner facilities having asset safetied my stuff last night, to be met with this:

I'm genuinely pretty surprised by this. The discord is still locked so no info there. Also nothing I can see on Reddit about this. I'm guessing after Ray's actions Snuff decided not to turn up?

On the one hand, this means I don't have to spend ages moving my setup if I don't want to, which is a nice option to have. Although this is the second time this has happened, so it likely will again.

The downside is I have another 4 and a half days before I can access my stuff as I put it into asset safety. Then I'll have to spend ages ferrying it back and forth from the NPC station, which is annoying.

I honestly don't know if I'm going to continue here or not. It's the path of least resistance but I'm not sure if it's the most stable long term. I guess no-one can answer that.

One thing I have learned so far doing industry is you need to be prepared to move on very little notice! Trading is much simpler in so many regards, this especially.

Moving my low sec industry set up...

I had been planning to finally get my May Update out (I've just been lazy on that, though it's actually been pretty positive), however I have something pressing to deal with this evening:

These structures were reinforced not too long ago, and it didn't come to anything. So why is this different?

Well...

There was some drama recently over a EVE streamer taking offence to someone posting a pride flag in his chat (this is relevant I promise). That turned into some Reddit drama, but wouldn't normally affect too much outside of him.

However, in this case, Fern Kitsuen, the public face and community manager of the EVEGuru project waded in and used the EVEGuru platform and YouTube channel to post a video. I did not see this video, but from snippets of transcripts I saw floating around it seemed like he went really off the deep end into some really foul far right talking points that I won't go into here. Like I say, I did not see it before it was taken down, I was mostly enjoying a weekend with my family away from all this.

All this while the developer of EVEGuru was away on holiday with his family, so largely unaware this was going on/unable to respond about it.

The EVE community in the main took this...poorly. The EVEGuru structures were reinforced almost instantly, with a firm promise they will be destroyed, and I expect a lot of piling on for the kill mails here.

Since returning to the fray, the developer, Ray Zolo, has handled all this I think very well. He put out an apology, distanced himself from Fern/the views expressed, got hold of the Youtube account details from Fern, took down the video, and kicked him from discord/is trying to remove him from the corp and everything else. A lot of damage control.

I do feel for Ray, he seems like he want to quietly develop the tool and play the game, and let Fern handle the public facing parts that he doesn't want to do. And Fern cause him all these issues. Also the discord server has descended into a level of toxicity I have not seen in quite some time, and had to be locked. The internet can be the worst sometimes.

Also Fenris Creations is going to have to do some PR/damage control as both the people involved in this are (at time of writing) part of their EVE partner program. There are going to be some tense meetings in the office tomorrow morning.

So why does this affect me? Well, I have been recently operating out of the EVEGuru facilities for T2 ship production. I haven't fully dived into it headlong but I'm in the middle of my 5th production run, and was getting into the swing of things. Now, suddenly, I have this evening to make a decision on whether to asset safety my stuff there or try and get it out. As the reinforce timers come out during the night this can't wait until morning.

I don't have any jobs running right now (I had some reactions going that finished this evening) but I do have almost 1 million m3 of materials in system. My characters there currently do not fly anything bigger than a Tayra, I'm training into DSTs there. I do have a DST in Akonoinen but that is 25 jumps away. So getting my stuff out is going to be a time consuming exercise.

On balance of time I think I'm going to have to asset safety to in system (should only cost me 0.5% of value to pull out) and then over the next however long do runs to extract the stuff to akonoinen and complete this run from there. From there I'll have a decision to make about whether to go to one of the existing freeports in Amamake or Huola, or join a null block and work from there.

Absolutely non of this is fun for anyone involved, and I hate that we still have incidents like this occasionally. Here's hoping this is the last we see of this sort of thing.

April Update - Industry

A belated update on industry. And another fairly flat month:

My net worth is 59.5Bn, that's an increase of 600mil, or 20mil ISK/day.

Well, it's not negative, but it's not really positive either. So what gives? Have I just forgotten how to make money with industry?

Not exactly. My usual medium rigs have been continuing their slow downward trend which makes profiting off them very difficult. I've been constantly chasing prices down just to get revenue. But I have been making money with them. The bigger thing has been starting a lowsec industry set up.

I've spent time and money getting a set of blueprints and reaction formulae to Auner in Minmatar lowsec, and working out the logistics and contract mechanisms. That all went fine, but I also found I had to spend hundreds of millions on skills that I was lacking across a couple of characters, which eats into my profits.

Also, building ships is slow. These first few runs have really been test runs to get the mechanisms setup, make sure my blueprints are in the right place, materials in the right stations, that sort of thing. This aspect has been a success, but actually selling the finished product has been a challenge.

Sabres have fallen in price, when I started my build run they had a 22% profit margin, but they have fallen to a 52 week low price where the margin is just 2%...I spend more than that on shipping alone!

T2 transports haven't been much better either. Though I'm just getting started with those. TBH I'm not thrilled with the outcome so far, but there's a lot to work out. Onwards!
